Green Peas For Microgreens

Learning how to plant green peas (or microgreens) is a fun project that almost anyone can do, especially children who like to help out with things around the house. The key to success with microgreens is making sure that they are properly planted before you start eating them. Here’s what you need to do:

How To Plant Green Peas: Drill Down The Seeds To Full Size In order to get the best result when growing green peas microgreens, be sure to drill the seeds just below the surface of the soil as deep as possible, about half an inch. How To Grow Microgreens, also known as alfalfa sprouts, need to be seeded in rows about one inch deep. If using alfalfa sprouts, a mix of one tablespoon of alfalfa meal and one tablespoon of sterile soilless media should be added to a well-drilled hole in the ground. Cover the seeds lightly with sterile soil and allow them to grow until about half an inch.

Planting Green Peas: Microgreens While planting green peas microgreens is the easiest part of this delicious and easy to prepare vegetable, it is also one of the most important. You’ll want to plant these as soon as possible. If you are growing them indoors, it’s best to plant them after your last frost but preferably during the springtime. They will start to grow just after the end of July. These little plants can be found at your local nursery, as well as online. Try to buy certified organic fertilizer or a product that contains boron, not sugar.

When Planting Microgreens: One of the things I like most about growing green peas… is that they are so simple to germinate and grow from seed. I’ve personally tried dozens of different garden seeds – daffodils, tulips, blue star radishes, peas, fennel, carrots, snapdragons, corn, sunflowers, lentils, etc. The best ones I’ve had… worked from start to finish without soil. Of course, there are a few tricks to growing microgreens properly…

Planting Green Peas Microgreens needs lots of sunshine, which these little plants have plenty. One of the easiest ways to provide adequate amounts of sunshine is to plant them next to a tall container that receives morning sun. This will provide the most direct sunlight possible without requiring any special shading. One trick I use for growing green peas microgreens is to mix a bit of lime juice with some water in a spray bottle, and apply this mixture to the tops of the growing plants. The green peas will root very easily in this mixture.

Tips for Growing Microgreens: Some of the most important tips I give for growing microgreens are shallow water, frequent watering, and planting at the proper time of year. I personally prefer the seasonal varieties because they tend to be smaller. If you want to grow microgreens, just follow the instructions in my step guide. The microgreens I grew were very fine. Each had several shoots that would grow up to three times their normal size and bloom for several months.

Preparing Green Peas Microgreens For Cooking: The great thing about microgreens is that they can be used in a variety of recipes. I used them as a sauce for grilled pork chops and pork ribs, along with my barbecue sauce. The microgreens took about 30 minutes to cook; they were tender, delicious, and unique.
