Modern Indoor Plant Pots Offer Many Possibilities for Your Gardening

Why are indoor plant pots considered modern? Well, there is no argument that they are the cheapest, safest and most convenient option you have for growing your favorite plants. Many people choose to use container gardening in their homes today because it is so easy. Of course, when the weather gets really cold or hot, you will still want to have some plants in your home. So, if you are an indoor gardener, you will want to be sure to get a nice selection of high quality, modern indoor plant pots.

Today’s indoor container gardening has come a long way from the standard clay pot that was the only choice when people began to cultivate plants in their homes. You can choose the size and shape that will be right for the plants you have chosen to grow inside your home. The choices are not limited to any specific kind of plant.

There are several varieties of container gardens you can use. The first choice you will want to make is whether you will be using a traditional soil-based potting medium. This may include gravel, perlite, sand, ceramic, and others. Your plants will need something to stay on top of but also have plenty of drainage because the roots will need to be able to absorb as much water as possible and the roots will need the proper amount of air circulation.

No matter which type of container you decide to use, the soil you use is very important. It can affect your plants’ health. Most indoor plant pots have holes at the bottom that allow the soil to drain. But, you should make sure that the soil in the container matches the type of plants you plan to have.

When you are ready to plant your selected plants, you will need to line the bottom of the container with either vermiculite or perlite. Both provide the necessary drainage to keep your plants healthy. However, vermiculite tends to retain more of the moisture from the soil. Perlite is a little lighter and allows more of the soil to evaporate so the plants have more of a chance to get air and water.

Watering your plants is a very important part of their care. You should do this once a week during the hotter months and then once a month during the cooler months. You should pay close attention to the type of container you use. If you use a plastic pot, you should only water your plants when the soil appears dry. You should water your plants deeply but not excessively. Excessive watering can result in root rot for your plants.

For container gardening like most other forms of gardening, you will need to choose what kind of container you purchase based on the needs of your plants. There are container planters for container gardening designed specifically for herbs, trees, and flowering plants. Others are specially designed for succulents, ferns, or flowering bulbs. No matter what kind of container you choose, you should choose one that has a built in drainage system so your plants can have the proper amount of water.

For the ultimate in container gardening, you should invest in an indoor plant pot that has a built in air purifier. Plants don’t do well in conditions that lack air circulation. They also need regular light so they can produce their best blooms. Indoor plant pots allow you to give your plants all the light they need and you don’t have to worry about them getting moldy or corroded from the sunlight. Most modern indoor plant pots have an adjustable lid which makes caring for your plants much easier than it used to be.
