What is the Best Plant For Balcony? – Choose the Right Plants

Having what is the best plant for the balcony is a question that almost every balcony owner asks. The best balcony plants are those that suit your personal taste and preferences. Apart from these you also need to consider other factors like your budget, which ultimately decides what is the best plant for the balcony.

There are several types of plants available which make it difficult for a novice to choose the best one for the balcony. However, if you know what type of plants you want then it becomes easy to choose. Basically there are three types of plants that are suited for balconies. These are flowering plants, ground covers.

If you have limited space and small balcony space then you need to go for flowering plants. They offer several benefits, which include improving the whole look of the place and providing a soothing area in which to relax. You should get a variety that includes plants like boxwood, shrubs and hedges. You need to bear in mind that you cannot have all these plants around at once. Choose one or two plants at a time.

Next, if you have limited space and balconies with huge wooden decks then you need to go for ground covers. These plants are ideal if you don’t have much space and if you live alone or if you have kids and animals at home. Since they come down easily when there is any water or rain, ground covers are ideal. You can plant a variety of grasses, herbs, flowers and vegetables on them.

You also need to remember that you cannot plant every single plant. Some of your favorite plants may not be appropriate for balconies. So you need to choose those plants which will go well with the environment and place where you plan to place them. However, you need to make sure that you don’t plant them next to each other as they will surely block each other’s light. You should try to keep a distance of at least three to four feet between the two potted plants. If you don’t want to use photos, you can also use different kinds of plants such as clematis, sedums or verbena as your best plants for balcony.
